What’s with the turtle in your logo?
Great question! We chose a turtle for many reasons. Did you know "tortuga" is the Spanish word for turtle.
Cultural Heritage
The turtle or honu is an important creature throughout all Polynesian cultures and has been associated with several meanings. The first being the fact that turtles symbolize health, fertility, longevity in life, foundation, peace and rest.
Native American Indigenous cultures recognize the turtle as the symbol of Mother Earth. Mother Earth provides protection for women through the turtle. The spirit of the turtle is feminine, embodying fertility, patience, nurturing, longevity, fortitude, calmness, and resiliency.
Slow and Steady Wins the Race!
The proverb is correct. Unless you’re retiring in the near future, you should consider setting long-term goals and implement a long-term strategy as well.
Manage Risk
Our goal is to manage your portfolio’s risk, as well as managing your behavior and expectations regarding the financial markets. Sea turtles navigate the world’s oceans seeking nourishment, searching for a mate, and avoiding predators. Although we can’t claim that your investments will be risk-free and will only experience growth, we can seek to protect your portfolio through diversification, systematic rebalancing, and making sure we listen to you.
Adaptable
Just like a turtle can nest on land and live in water while breathing air, Tortuga Financial is adaptable. Whether we’re in a bull market, a bear market, or are on the cusp of either, we adapt to shifts in the market and plan accordingly.
Longevity
Sea turtles swam the Earth’s temperate and tropical oceans for the last 110 million years and can live more than 50 years. We appreciate their longevity and approach each client relationship with the goal of exceeding expectations leading to a multi-generational relationship.
Tells Our Story
Our founder Mike Maynes, CFP® chose the Polynesian design because, like a Polynesian tattoo, it tells his story. Mike lives and works in sea-turtle friendly Boca Raton and enjoys beach snorkeling, scuba diving, and exploring the ocean.
